The Ultimate List of Halloween Songs for Kids

Kids love Halloween, and what better way to celebrate than by singing and dancing to Halloween music?  I created the ultimate list of Halloween songs for kids, because I wanted to share my favorites with you.  I have also included links to my favorite Halloween CD’s, music program, and music song books for younger and older students.

This list contains a variety of songs with spooky and less spooky ones for you to teach or have fun singing and dancing along to with your kids.  I have included the words, and if you search on YouTube, you can find the music to most of the songs to sing a long to. Happy Halloween!

Songs About Pumpkins

Pick a Pumpkin

Pick a pick a pumpkin from the pile.

We can make his eyes and a great big smile.

Pick a pick a pumpkin, round and clean,

Then we’ll be ready for Halloween.

Halloween, Halloween, then we’ll be ready for Halloween.

Halloween, Halloween, then we’ll be ready for Halloween.

5 Little Pumpkins

*This is a poem

5 little pumpkins sitting on a gate.

The first one said, “Oh my it’s getting late.”

The second one said, “There are witches in the air.”

The third one said, “But we don’t care.”

The fourth one said, “Let’s run and run.”

The fifth one said, “I’m ready for some fun.”

Whoosh went the wind and out went the lights,

And the five little pumpkins rolled out of sight.

I’m a Pumpkin

I’m a pumpkin, large and round,

Sitting on the cold cold ground.

Now it’s time to leave this place,

Take me home and carve a face.

Make some eyes, and a nose,

And a mouth.

Pass the Pumpkin

*This is a poem pass the beanbag game

Pass the pumpkin all around.

Do not let it touch the ground.

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh,

Halloween is here.

Orange Pumpkins

Orange pumpkins growing on the vine,

Orange pumpkins, oh, so fine.

Orange pumpkins growing on the ground,

Orange pumpkins, big and round.

Grow, orange pumpkins, grow, grow,

Grow, orange pumpkins, grow, grow, grow.

Grow, orange pumpkins, grow, grow,

We won’t pick you, no, no, no.

Till Halloween.

Pumpkin Patch

Look for a pumpkin in the pumpkin patch.

Make sure i’ts the biggest one.

Pick out a pumpkin in the pumpkin patch.

Show it off to everyone.

Draw a big and scary face.

Put it in a special place.

Halloween Songs for Kids to Sing

Ghost of John

Have you seen the ghost of John?

Long white bones, with the skin all gone.

Ooh, ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh.

Wouldn’t it be chilly with no skin on?

The Boogie Woogie Ghost

There was a ghost on Halloween,

He really made a ghostie scene,

He was the Boogie Woogie Ghost,

He was the ghostie with the most,

And when the kiddies came around,

He’d give out with a ghostly sound,

He’d go wooo-oooo.

He’d go out spooking late at night,

And giving everyone a fright.

He knew some witches, two or three

And they would all go on a spree,

And when the morning came around,

He’d give one last mysterious sound,

He’d go booo-oooh.

Though he really wasn’t very spooky,

Kids all thought that he was rather cool.

Even though he was a little kooky,

He was just a special ghoul.

When you’re out on Halloween

And he appears upon the scene,

Don’t give a scream and run away,

Just ask him if he’ll stay and play.

You’ll like the Boogie Woogie Ghost,

He’ll be the one you dig the most,

He’ll go booo-woooh.

Watch Out for Black Cats

Watch out for black cats

On Halloween night.

Watch out for black cats

A dark and scary sight.

Watch out for goblins

And ghostly acrobats.

Watch out for goblins

And black cats!

Halloween, Halloween

Halloween, Halloween, what does it mean?

Halloween, Halloween, what does it mean?

It means costumes and candy

And pumpkins and cats,

Goblins and spiders

And hoot owls and bats,

It means heaps of treats!

Oh yummy, yummy,

Halloween, Halloween, what does it mean?

Halloween, Halloween, what does it mean?

It means popcorn and cupcakes

And apples and brew,

Scarecrows and witches

And ghosts who go, Boo!

It means heaps of treats!

Oh yummy, yummy,

Halloween, Halloween

What does it mean?

It means spooky fun!

Greasy Grimy Gopher Guts

Great green globs of greasy grimy gopher guts,

Mutilated monkey’s meat,

Little birdy’s dirty feet,

Great green globs of greasy grimy gopher guts,

And me without a spoon!

The Thing that Isn’t There

I’ll tell you what I truly fear

What gives me the wooliest scare,

I’ll tell you what I drea the most:

The thing that isn’t there.

Hoo ooh.

It isn’t under my brother’s bed,

It isn’t behind the chair.

It’s hard to say just where it is:

The thing that isn’t there.

Hoo ooh.

And when my mother turns out the light,

I lie in the bed and stare.

I stare at the wall prepared to see,

The thing that isn’t there.

Hoo ooh.

It wasn’t there for weeks and weeks,

So I took extra care.

It gives me the creeps to think of it,

The thing that isn’t there.

Hoo ooh.

And now on a dark and stormy night,

I bravely climb the stairs,

And open the closet door to face,

The thing that isn’t there.

Hoo ooh.

It isn’t there again tonight,

The prickles in my hair,

Inform me that I’m very near

To the thing that isn’t there.

Hoo ooh.

Halloween Night

Better watch out it’s Halloween night.

Look at all the spooky sights.

Better watch out it’s Halloween night.

Look at all the spooky sights.

Skeletons let’s have some fun.

When I count to eight, you must be done.

Better watch out it’s Halloween night.

Look at all the spooky sights.

Better watch out it’s Halloween night.

Look at all the spooky sights.

Witches, too, what can you do?

When I count to eight you must be through

Better watch out it’s Halloween night.

Look at all the spooky sights.

Better watch out it’s Halloween night.

Look at all the spooky sights.

Goblins and ghosts, how can you fly?

When I count to eight, come down from the sky.

They’re Out of Sight

What do the ghosts and goblins say on Halloween night?

Boo——————- They give us a fright!

What do the ghosts and goblins do on Halloween night?

They bump and jump and thumpity thump.

They’re out of sight! Boo!
